Who I Am

When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.

John Muir

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with CRPO in private practice, working with adults in individual and couple’s therapy. I graduated from the Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy (DipTIRP), and Trent University in Cultural Studies (BA). My path to becoming a therapist is heart-centred and deeply personal. I am devoted to the work of mental and emotional health, and I am passionate about connecting with others to help bring positive transformation, self-care and healing into their lives. I am continuously honoured and humbled to be a part of this journey with the people I work with.

I went back to school for Relational Psychotherapy in 2010, while I was simultaneously building my career as a human-centred designer. Quite different in application from a therapist, but with the common underpinning of human behaviour, empathy, and the generation of meaningful and transformational insights. Now that I’ve sun-setted that career, I continue to draw from these insights on the human experience, as well as my experience in the design and business world for almost 20 years. I know what it looks and feels like to build a career out there. I have been a career counsellor for many designers over the years and helped shape their paths. I also understand the special flavour of stress and burn out that our work lives can bring.

I am committed to bringing awareness and acknowledgement to the oppression that exists within racial, cultural, gender, sexual, and religious identities and experiences. I am dedicated to understanding how it exists in my client’s life and how it interacts with both of our beliefs and behaviour. I recognize that as a white woman I benefit from white privilege, and am committed to addressing how systemic oppression might influence our relationship. I am committed to being informed about my client’s context so that I aware of how this impacts the nature of their experiences.
